Biography
The sole survivor of the astromech droid team on Queen Amidala's J-type 327 Nubian royal starship. R2D2 later served as Anakin Skywalker's astromech droid, as one of the droids on Leia Organa's ship Tantive IV, was found by Jawas and sold to Luke Skywalker, whom he stayed with throughout most of the Galactic Civil War
