Biography
A young boy living in New York. Joseph saves him from brutal, racist policemen, and he sticks around long enough to watch the battle against Straits. He also shows up at the end of Part 2 with Rudolf von Stroheim's cavalry. Smokey is initially shown with a pigtail in Volume 5, which mysteriously disappears in the rest of the series.
