Yuuyoku no Shishi

Winged Lion is the unnamed entity that is the guardian spirit of the Golden Country trapped by the Lunatic Magician in the depths of the dungeon on the Island. As its epithet describes, it looks much like a lion with large, eagle-like wings sprouting from either side of its ribs. The Winged Lion appears as a motif throughout the dungeon, such as the statues in the castle town, the water fountains, and on the hilt of Laios' sword.
