Makeru Butamo

Another of Tezuka’s scientist and doctor characters, Makeru Butamo has made an appearance in many of his manga series. However, unlike Dr. Ochanomizu and Dr. Hanamaru, who always have the good of science and mankind in mind, Makeru Butamo is frequently a conspirator, an ally of bad people, a taker of bribes, or simply pigheadedly wrong, and while he is rarely the source of any intentional evil, he is frequently responsible for it. In Metropolis he is called Dr. Laughton (Dr. ロートン).
