The story is set in the 1990s, and follows an ordinary middle school boy named Yasutaka Etou, who plays games and is bad with girls. One day his female classmate Kaori Kashiwame consults him out of the blue about Neo Geo and SNK games because, as it turns out, the person she has an unrequited crush on is a fan.
